Halifax Christian Academy, a private elementary and high school in Nova Scotia, Canada, is looking forward to welcoming many students from other countries to take part in a comprehensive study program.
This program offers
- English as a Second Language classes with a qualified instructor. Each student is given the help he needs to succeed at school. Ask about summer ESL program.
- Academic education at the student’s grade level. If you complete the courses in Grades 10, 11, 12, you will be able to apply to universities in Canada and USA. You need to check with schools in your home country to find out if they accept these courses.
- Cultural experiences, – from the overnight camp that starts the school year, to class trips sharing events in Halifax; from ESL outings through the year, to HCA’s own choir, band and sports; from sight-seeing with your host family, to sports and music activities you choose to take part in – all these form friendships and awareness that will change the way you see the world!
- Home stay, chosen with care so that you can feel at home and share family life. All host families are well known to HCA. If you prefer to stay with a relative or friend, please give contact information.
- Visa requirements – As soon as a tuition deposit has been made, HCA will provide the Acceptance Letter and notarized Custodian Declaration that you need for a Canada Study Permit. If you have your own custodian in Canada, HCA also needs a copy of this information in case of emergency.
- Health Insurance is needed for the first year of your stay in Canada, and the cost is included in the Confirmation Fee. Comprehensive Insurance for our international students is provided by Ingle.
- Travel assistance. We will meet you at the airport and introduce you to your host family. When you go home, we will go with you through baggage and security checks. Passports, tickets, and visa, or other travel documents, are the responsibility of the student’s family.
- Time to apply – Allow three or four months. Apply in April to start school in September.
Statement of Faith
We believe :
- in the Bible as the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative, inerrant Word of God
- in only one God, eternally existent in three persons – Father, Son, Holy Spirit, the creator of the universe.
- in the deity of Christ, His virgin birth, sinless life, His miracles, His atoning death, His resurrection, His return in power and glory.
- in the need of regeneration by the Holy Spirit, and in salvation by grace, through faith in Christ, apart from human efforts.
- in the spiritual unity of all believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.
A complete statement of faith is available from the school office upon request.
Spiritual Training
At Halifax Christian Academy your children will be taught that they are valuable to God, who created them unique individuals, loves and cares for them daily, and made a way for them to know Him. This way is through Jesus Christ, who died on the cross to pay the penalty for the wrong things we all do, and whose resurrection demonstrates His power to give salvation to all who believe. Now by His Holy Spirit He can befriend and help us, living in us His life of love towards God and others.
This is the Christian gospel message that is modelled at HCA, and must be respected by all. However, no student will be put under any pressure to accept or believe these things.
Students in Senior High school (Grades10–12) are encouraged to attend an evangelical church at least once a week, and are expected to participate in community or Christian service activities.
